View Full Version : Stupid Question... maybe

SolFire
A friend of mine was talking about having to use negative binary numbers in a program today.

Soo.. I was thinking. What would happen of you used a negative HEX number in a gameshark code??

like - FF01 is negative 255 (FF inverted)

likewise, FFFF is the same as -1 (1 inverted)

It would be kind of cool to be able to use negative numbers in GS codes, but I have another question:

How the HELL does the gameshark know that you're talking about a negative number and not just a really large positive number?! I.. really.. dont get how the computer/PSX/whatever knows that sometimes FFFF is 65535 and sometimes it's -1.

i'm not so familiar with gameshark stuff, but..

i would think that the system would know how to treat FFFF purely based on context. because.. that's the only way it seems possible, to me.

it's all secrets and lies.. secrets and lies!
